Overview

The ongoing protests of 2014 marked a milestone of Hong Kong political history. Contrary to the mainstream narrative which views the city merely as an international finance and trading hub, Hong Kong has a long history of mass political participation. This course aims to examine the political movements of Hong Kong in 20th century and examine how it was affected by international politics. This course is designed for the general public, but secondary students taking DSE History would also find it highly relevant to the Hong Kong history module.
